Right before the first album came out, Blue Mountain
released a 7" single "the day they tore down the hippy hotel" and b-side
"mary jane." Mary Jane was also featured on a benefit comp. for child abuse
and rape victims. Big Black River and Let's Ride were featured on the fishtone
records comp. entitled "Mississippi Dreaming"
During the time of the release of Dog Days, a 5 song single
was released with "Wink" being the feature single. This single included
3 other songs that were on Dog Days, but along with one other non album
song.
Blue Mountain has also produced the soundtrack for a small
indie movie called The Closest Thing to Heaven. They also appear in the
movie. Could this be BM's start in the movie business? (<- note sarcasm)
Good luck finding a copy of this movie today. They have also appeared
on a PBS special high-lighting Artists from Mississippi called Southern
Expressions.
Blue Mountain was also a featured artist on the Hempalation
2 compilation with the song "Mary Jane".
You can also check out the Blue Mountain gang on Black
Dog's "Rock and Roll Summer Camp
98" album that has a great mix of all the Black Dog artists joining
in on the fun.
In addtion to all of the above, we wouldn't doubt that
there may be some obscure compilations/etc. that they may be on, so if
you happen to know of something we missed, let us know!
