Blue Mountain

In '93, Cary and Laurie were back with a new drummer and minus John Stiratt. With Mr. Matt Brennan behind the set, Blue Mountain and their first album were born.

The self titled debut was released on their own 4-barrel records. It still showed the punk nfluence a bit, but began leaning more towards their bluegrass and seventies rock heroes roots. The electric bluegrass of "Jimmy Carter" tells the story of the Georgia peanut farmer folk hero. "Mountain Girl" shows a country\appalachian folk influence. They also do a cover of Woody Guthrie's "900 Miles" and the traditional blues of "Go'way devil". Then there's "Let's Ride", a Neil Young inspired tribute to the great Mississippi Highway 49.

For all of you that are looking for this first BM self titled CD (there have been alot of e-mails pertaining to this subject), we hate to tell you, but it is almost impossible to get one. Believe us, we know, Seth lost his one night. After walking a total of 23 miles around Laurel, MS back roads, in the rain looking for it, he called Cary himself in a moment of desperation, only to find out the bad news. At the time, because of their contract with Roadrunner, they were not allowed to re-release the album, seeing as many of the songs from Dog Days are on it. And while the band has now broken up, and has no obligations to Roadrunner, there still have been no signs that the album will be re-released.  So take all this to heart, and DON'T LOSE YOUR COPY!!!
