AW11 Repair Info

While Toyota did indeed make us a good car in the Mr2, it is by no means perfect.  Things will break, and we must fix them.  Luckily, if they are fixed right the first time, you will usually never have to mess with it again.  There is nothing else like working on (or cursing at) your Mr2 for a weekend to further strengthen the bond between car and driver.  While the mid-engined car in general has an infamous reputation for being worked on, the Mr2 is by far one of the easiest.  The right tools, some planning ahead, and a little patience will go a long way in making you an expert on Mr2 repair.  You may not think so in the heat of the battle, but the cars are actually engineered very well, and repairing things usually are somewhat straight forward.

BUY THE SERVICE MANUAL!  While you can get away with not having one for the very simple jobs, the Service Manual is considered a must for most repair jobs.

The following list at the bottom includes some of the more common problems encountered, and how to fix them.  Also look under the accidents section to see how well the AW11 holds up in the (gasp!) event of a wreck.  There is also the parts section with a large listing of parts suppliers.  The companies that are listed are the most highly recommended places for both OEM as well as performance parts.  And finally, if you are a new AW11 owner, please look under the tune up section for the more common things that are fixed to bring the car back to its former glory.
