GDT::Portfolio Continues to Climb, But...

GDT::Portfolio stocks seem to be taking turns going up. The markets remain extremely volative; therefore, recent gains could be lost in a matter of minutes (actually seconds).

Applied Digital Solutions (ADSX) [SELL report]
[Monday, 06 December 2004] ADSX made a new 52-week high of $7.23 before closing the day at $7.16. Trading volume was 13M versus an average of 4.4M. Digital Angel, of which Applied Digital is a majority shareholder, announced they received an order from the USDA to place chips into elk and deer.

[Tuesday, 07 December 2004] GDT::Portfolio sold 7% of its ADSX holdings for portfolio adjustment.

   The sold shares were purchased three 
   years ago at $3.90 per share.

   Avg. cost per remaining share is $2.92.

On Tuesday, ADSX closed at $7.38 after hitting an intra-day high (and new 52-week high) of $8.55. Volume was 24.0M versus an average of 4.3M.

[Tuesday, 07 December 2004] LOOK shares closed up less than 1% at $2.06, but this was after hitting an intra-day high of $2.30. Volume was 6.8M versus 1.8M.
Nanogen (NGEN)
[Monday, 06 December 2004] Nanogen received their 81st U.S. patent. NGEN closed at $6.37.
Novell (NOVL) [BUY report]

Opsware (OPSW)
[Monday, 06 December 2004] Opsware to acquire Rendition Networks. This looks like an excellent move for Opsware and it appears Wall Street agrees (at least today).

[Thursday, 09 December 2004] Wachovia initiated coverage on OPSW with a 'Mkt Perform' rating. OPSW closed yesterday at $6.58 and in early trading today the stock was down to $6.30.

[Friday, 10 December 2004] Opsware announced it has priced a registered direct offering for the sale of 10 million shares of its common stock at a price of $6.40 per share to institutional investors. ThinkEquity Partners LLC served as placement agent for the transaction. OPSW reacted on the news by spiking from yesterday's close of $6.40 to $7.22. It closed the day up 8.4% at $6.94. Volume was 2.1M versus 0.74M.

VA Software (LNUX)
[Tuesday, 07 December 2004] LNUX shares were up 22.3% closing at $2.85. The shares hit an intra-day high of $2.97. Volume was 4.0M versus an average of 0.35M. The stock is well below its 52-week high of $4.80.
