Take the Money and Run

Most GDT::Portfolio stocks are well below their 52-week highs. Numerous buying opportunities are presenting themselves.

Firstwave Technologies (FSTW) [BUY report]
Firstwave had a tough quarter and the thinly traded stock dropped below $4 on Tuesday, 27 April 2004. Mmm... "sports" may come to Firstwave's rescue.
   BOUGHT FSTW 3.75 04/28/2004

3rd purchase; avg. price per share is $5.27
Lucent Technologies (LU) [BUY report]

Personally, I am not happy to see Marimba be acquired because I saw this this stock going higher that $8.25.

Nanogen (NGEN) [BUY report]
Nanogen is a San Diego, CA, based company that "develops and commercializes molecular diagnostics products and tests for the gene-based testing market." NGEN shares are well above their 52-week low of $1.27, but they have fallen 55.3% from their 52-week high of $14.95.
   BOUGHT NGEN 6.68 04/29/2004

Novell (NOVL)
Red hat (RHAT)
A brokerage firm put out a 'Buy' recommendation on RHAT at $25 per share. The same firm issued an 'Underperform' rating on NOVL when it was priced around $11.
Opsware (OPSW)
Opsware has filed a Form S-3 with the SEC to register the sale of up to $150 million in common stock. The sales will occur on an as-needed basis. This is good news in that Opsware will probably do a good job spending the money they raise, but it is bad news because of dilution (i.e. there will be more shares outstanding).
OrthoLogic (OLGC)
OrthoLogic reported solid 1st quarter results and the stock spiked to $8.24 during early trading on Thursday, 29 April 2004.
Silicon Graphics (SGI) [BUY report]
We were not going to add to our SGI holdings, but we could not resist purchasing a small number of shares for under $2 to replaces SGI shares we sold on 13 January 2004 at $3.20.
   BOUGHT SGI 1.95 04/30/2004
At $2.00 per share, SGI's Price-Sales-Ratio (PSR) is 0.47.
