Closed PositionsSyntellect went belly-up as a public company. The company was a victim of terrorists. Syntellect lives, but shareholders lost everything. Sonic Blue went belly-up as a public comapny. Is tough to grow a business when you are constantly fighting lawsuits. Go Video lives, but shareholders lost everything. Digital Think was a small negative wash because of a takeover. ePresence was a small positive wash because the company decided to liquidate itself. [May 2004] Marimba was acquired by BMC Software in an all cash deal. Kudos for BMC on an excellent buy. [May 2004] Orbitz was acquired by another company resulting in an eight month short term gain of 12.3%. [28 September 2004] Epoch Biosciences has merged with Nanogen. EBIO shares stopped trading on 16 December 2004 at a closing price of $3.29. [17 December 2004] Lynx Therapeutics (LYNX) has become Solexa (SLXA). [early-March 2005] Micromuse (MUSE) was acquired by IBM and we had to sell our investment. [20 December 2005] Silicon Graphics (SGI) went belly-up and shareholders received nothing (i.e. the stock price hit zero). [June 2006] Internet Security Systems (ISSX) was acquired by IBM and we had to sell out investment. [25 August 2006] Viisage (VISG) is merging with Identix and becoming L1 Identity Solutions (ID). [August 2006] Lucent Technologies (LU) merged with Alcatel. LU shareholders received 0.1952 shares of ALU (Alcatel Lucent). [12 September 2006] America West Airlines (AWA) merged with US Airlines forming US Airways (LCC). [27 September 2006] Broadwing (BWNG) was acquired by Level 3 Communications (LVLT). BWNG shareholders received $8.18 in cash plus 1.3411 shares of LVLT. [4 January 2007] Solexa (SLXA) was acquired by Illumina (ILMN). SLXA shareholders received 0.344 shares of ILMN for each SLXA share. [26 January 2007] @Road (ARDI) was acquired by Trimble Navigation (TRMB). ARDI shareholders received $5 per share along with 0.0447 TRMB share for each ARDI share. [16 February 2007] Opsware (OPSW) was acquired by Hewlett-Packard for $14.25 per share. HP got a steal. Opsware was our largest holding, but not any longer. [14 September 2007] BEA Systems (BEAS) reported that Oracle wanted to buy it. BEA told Oracle their offering price was to low so We decided to sell when BEAS spiked on all the news. [12 October 2007] Iomega (IOM) announced that EMC is buying it for $3.85 per share and we liquidated our position. This is a great buy for EMC. [14 April 2008] Napster (NAPS) was acquired by Best Buy so we liquidated our position. [22 September 2008] Entrust (ENTU) acquired by Thoma Bravo. [13 April 2009] Sun Microsystems (SUNW) acquired by Oracle. [27 January 2010] L1 Identity Solutions (ID) acquired by Safran. [20 September 2010] Novell (NOVL) acquired by Attachmate. [22 November 2010] Drugstore.com (DSCM) was acquired by Walgreens so we liquidated our position. [25 March 2011] iLinc Communications (ILNC) was acquired by BroadSoft.
