| MOTD Archive is a collection of hyperlinks to old MOTDs. MOTDs are archived three times a year: start of Spring Semester (dot-edu mode), start of Summer Break (dot-com mode), start of Fall Semester (dot-edu mode again). GDT is always in dot-net and dot-org modes. |

When a MOTD ends, it gets archived and a new MOTD is instantiated. The new MOTD hyperlinks to the just archived (think retired) MOTD. The archived MOTD becomes a stand-alone webpage and takes its place in Internet history. An archived MOTD is modified to hyperlink back to the MOTD that replaced it. This stuff is done manually using XHTML, but it could be automated by writing a program (i.e. command). The early MOTDs were used to help me develop my XHTML writing skills. Some of them contain color. Overtime, the MOTDs have become black and white with hits of green. The hyperlinks are used to add color and other than that color is not used. The latter MOTDs may not contain much visual color, but they have content. Learning About Computing can be fun. The MOTD has been a great learning tool for me and there have been others who have found it to be a useful tool. Thanks. |
