W3C ( World Wide Web Consortium) founded in October 1994 to "lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing common protocols that promote its evolution and ensure its interoperability."

IETF ( Internet Engineering Task Force) is a "large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet."

ICANN ( Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is the "non-profit corporation that was formed to take over responsibility for the IP address space allocation, protocol parameter assignment, domain name system management, and root server system management." ICANNWatch is an organization whose mission is to " serve as a central point of reference about what ICANN is and is not doing."

ISOC ( Internet SOCiety) is a "professional membership society with more than 150 organizational and 6,000 individual members in over 100 countries. It provides leadership in addressing issues that confront the future of the Internet, and is the organization home for the groups responsible for Internet infrastructure standards, including the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB)."
