Biotech requires lots of investment: it requires lots of expensive equipment and it has to payout lots of high salaries.

Biotech has the potential to resurrect the computing industry here in the Valley of the Sun.

When will venture capitalist remember that this is America -- the greatest country on planet earth?

When will venture capitalist remember that we have just entered the 21st Century?

When will venture capitalist "invest" in America and our future rather than "speculate" on it?

If I was a politician wishing to commit political suicide, then I would recommend that the long term holding period be extended from 1 to 10 years.

Defective Software

Yesterday's (28 April 2003) Arizona Republic had an article about defective software.

   Computer bugs: Who's to blame?
   Problem sparks accountability debate.

Many software companies have become rich thanks in large part to not being held accountable for their "just good enough" software practices.

The article contained a quote from DreamTeam member Peter Neumann.

"Most software is thrown together with insufficient testing. The idea that we depend on something that's inherently untrustworthy is very frightening."

Neumann's quote starts with the word "Most" and I agree with him -- it is "frightening."

Perfect computer systems may never happen, but "most" of them must be as trustworthy as Mother Nature. 99 computer systems may be good, but one bad computer system can cause all kinds of trouble. The future of computing requires good computer systems that can ensure against bad computer systems being used.
