Being Free of Litter Does Not Come For Free

[14 January 2006] Arizona Republic reported that some "voter-approved transportation sales tax money" will be allocated to "cleanup up Valley freeway litter." Litter expense will increase to $2.9 million from $1.1 million.

The Republic indicated that monies allocated for highway-sweeping increased to $1.4 million from $1.0 million and litter-prevention/education funds were increased to $300,000 from $100,000.
